Player’s Perspective: Eric Kibi Part II

For the second time during the playoffs Fullcourt.dk teamed up with Eric Kibi for a player’s perspective. This time focus is on the last and decisive quarterfinal tonight between Hørsholm 79ers and SISU Men.

Hello welcome back,

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

It was a great weekend of basketball, with the Final Four of NCAA Basketball getting underway on Saturday night. For those of you who didn’t stay up to watch the games, you missed out on two great games that came down to the final few possessions in each game.

North Carolina and Gonzaga came out winners and will face each other in the Championship Game tonight.

Which leads us to the Game 5 action we have tonight in the Danish Ligaen. SISU happens to have a former Gonzaga Bulldog on its roster in Kyle Dranginis. Will it be a night where he experiences two triumphs in one night?

Decisive Game 5 – All or Nothing

Having played against both teams, I will say they are both physical teams that are both very well coached. Which means with them being so similar you have to rely on depth and defence in a decisive game like this, I would give that edge goes to Hørsholm. With that being said in games like these you also need talented players who are capable of taking over a game in crunch time. This edge has to go to SISU, in Mcgrew, Dranginis and Haas they have players who have proven already this season they can all take over a game if needed.

With Hørsholm having won the last two games and also having the home court advantage it’s hard not to pick them if you had to pick a winner. I think that SISU will make it a very physical, grind it out type of game with their two bigs down low so it should make for a very evenly played game with Hørsholm having their share of talented bigs as well.

The loss still stings!

Like I mentioned in my last blog, I came to Denmark after having played a Game 7 in a championship series in the National Basketball league of Canada. You can say momentum is always a big factor in these series. Our team, the London Lightning trailed our opponents, the Halifax Hurricanes 3-1 going into game 5. We ended up fighting back and winning the next two games to force a decisive game 7 in Halifax so you could say momentum was in our favour.

Personally I’ve played in a few one and done games in the NCAA tournament and conference championship games and I can say these games are always fun. Some might say there might be a lot of nerves and I agree but once the ball tips off both teams have to be ready. Unfortunately we blew an 8 point lead in the final 3 minutes to lose in Game 7. That loss still stings to this Day.

Hopefully both team give a very competitive game tonight. Enjoy!
